Every Good Tree Produces….
Today, I had anxiety. Not because of “Covid-19,” but because of the people marching and protesting in the streets for “freedom.” Freedom to use the beach now, freedom to open their business now, freedom to enter stores without a mask, right now! I totally understand where they are coming from, but what gave me anxiety is the doctors and nurses who will lose the freedom of taking a deep breath, taking long breaks, seeing their love ones everyday if people continue to break simple protocol.
However, who do we really blame? This scripture, Matthew 7:17–18, gave me the answer and I hope you can see it too.
“Even so, every good tree produces good fruit; but the corrupt tree produces evil fruit. A good tree can’t produce evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree produce good fruit.”
This whole pandemic event revealed a lot of people’s hearts to me. From leaderships, friendships, relationships to family to celebrities and pastorship.
This pandemic has brought kings and common people to the same eye level. Now that we can see eye to eye, the kings you once worship may sound differently. Their speech trembles, their words aren’t as motivating, and their body language is despicable. The glass house has finally broken, and now EVERYONE is picking up the pieces, trying to put it back together. Therefore, this scripture also revealed something to me that a lot of people may not notice. The ungodly passed legislation, crooked politicians, bias-news media, revenge, and sex seeking entertainment pumped into the society over the past 20 years have produced bad fruits! Many young and old people are filled with self-hate, selfishness, and non-common sense.
Even though I do not believe this pandemic was created by God, I do believe God is in the midst of it uncovering things that were once hidden in the dark by bringing them into the light. Many people say this is the last days, and I do not doubt it. However, I often wonder if this is a wake-up call.
